Psalm 91:1-2
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
The psalm distinguishes between dwelling and merely visiting. The protection described isn't for someone who occasionally seeks God, but for someone who makes His presence their constant residence.
Let's not overcomplicate this: the difference between feeling protected or not often lies in whether you're dwelling near God, or just stopping by from time to time.
Do I truly dwell in the shelter of God, or only visit occasionally when I need Him?
Choose today to 'dwell' in God's presence in a sustained way, not just visit it in a quick moment of prayer.
Lord, I want to dwell under Your shadow, not just visit You now and then. Be my fortress and my refuge today.
