James 4:7
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
The order of the verse matters: submit to God first, then resist the devil. Effective resistance is born out of prior submission, not the other way around.
Let's not overcomplicate this: resisting without first submitting to God is like fighting a battle without first aligning with the One who actually holds the power to give you the victory.
Reflection Question
Am I trying to resist the enemy without first truly submitting to God?
Today's Action
Before facing a specific temptation or attack today, consciously submit to God in prayer first.
Prayer
Lord, I submit to You before trying to resist anything else. I trust Your promise that the enemy will flee.
