Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
The proverb doesn't ask us to abandon thinking โ it asks us not to rely on it alone. Full trust in God doesn't exclude reflection, but it does set a limit on self-sufficiency.
Let's not overcomplicate this: trusting God doesn't mean you stop thinking. It means you stop thinking as if God weren't part of the equation.
In what decision am I relying more on my own reasoning than on God's direction?
Before resolving something on your own today, explicitly acknowledge God in that decision through prayer.
Lord, I don't want to lean only on my own understanding. I acknowledge You in my paths today; direct my steps.
