Psalm 46:1

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

The psalm doesn't promise the absence of trouble โ€” it promises a refuge that is 'very present,' not distant or conditional, but available right when it's needed most.

Let's not overcomplicate this: you don't need to hit bottom before seeking refuge in God. You can run to Him from the very first moment of the storm.

Reflection Question

Where do I run first when trouble comes: to God, or to my own resources?

Today's Action

In the next tense moment today, say out loud 'God is my refuge' before reacting any other way.

Prayer

Lord, be my refuge today. Let me run to You first, not to my own solutions, when difficulty comes.
