Psalm 103:1-2
“Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
The psalmist speaks to himself — 'bless the Lord, O my soul' — actively reminding himself of something the heart easily forgets: to count and not forget the benefits received.
Let's not overcomplicate this: closing a month with gratitude isn't just a poetic gesture. It's an active discipline against the natural forgetfulness of all the good you've already received.
As this month closes, what concrete benefits from God might I be taking for granted?
Look back over September and write down at least five specific benefits from God you don't want to forget.
Lord, I bless Your name as this month closes. Thank You for every benefit I sometimes take for granted. I don't want to forget any of them.
