1 Peter 5:8
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
Peter doesn't describe a distant or theoretical danger โ he describes something active, 'walketh about, seeking.' The alertness he calls for isn't paranoia; it's realism about the need to stay watchful.
Let's not overcomplicate this: the spiritual life doesn't run on autopilot. It requires active attention, especially in the moments you feel most secure.
In what area of my life have I let my guard down recently without realizing it?
Identify an area where you feel most spiritually vulnerable and set a concrete boundary of protection there today.
Lord, help me stay sober and alert. I don't want to let my guard down right where I need it most.
