Galatians 5:1
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”
Paul doesn't just announce freedom — he warns against the real risk of voluntarily returning to old chains. Freedom has to be maintained, not just received once.
Let's not overcomplicate this: being free in Christ doesn't automatically vaccinate you against going back to old chains. You have to choose, every day, to stand firm in that freedom.
Is there an old yoke — guilt, legalism, an old identity — I keep returning to even though Christ already freed me from it?
Name an old guilt or burden you keep returning to, and remind yourself out loud that Christ already set you free from it.
Lord, I don't want to return to the yoke You already freed me from. Help me stand firm in the freedom You gave me.
