1 Samuel 15:22

“Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice.”

Saul had offered sacrifices, thinking that would make up for his disobedience. Samuel's answer is clear: no ritual replaces direct obedience to what God already asked.

Let's not overcomplicate this: a big, visible gesture isn't needed if what God is asking of you is something simple and specific you just haven't done yet.

Reflection Question

Am I trying to make up with religious acts for something God is actually asking me to obey directly?

Today's Action

Identify an area where you know what God is asking and haven't done it yet, and take a concrete step of obedience today.

Prayer

Lord, I don't want to replace obedience with religious gestures. Help me do what You've already shown me, not just feel good doing something else.
