Proverbs 4:23

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

The proverb doesn't say to guard our actions first; it says to guard the heart — the source. Everything else, words, decisions, relationships, is born from there.

Let's not overcomplicate this: changing behavior without tending to the heart is treating the symptoms and leaving the root untouched.

Reflection Question

What am I letting into my heart unfiltered — in what I watch, what I listen to, what I think about over and over?

Today's Action

Identify one specific source (an account, a habit, a repeated conversation) that's affecting your heart, and set a limit on it today.

Prayer

Lord, help me guard my heart like the most valuable thing I have, because everything else in my life flows from it.
