Psalms 139:7-10
“Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.”
The psalmist isn't speaking in the abstract: he names heaven, Sheol, the far side of the sea โ the farthest places he could imagine. And in every one, the answer is the same: God is already there.
Let's not overcomplicate this: there is no place so far, and no moment so dark, that God's presence hasn't already reached before you.
Is there a place or a moment in my life where I feel like God doesn't reach?
Name the place or situation where you feel most alone, and remind yourself out loud that God is there too.
Lord, there is no distance and no darkness where You are not. Even when I don't always feel it, today I choose to believe Your hand holds me.
