Lamentations 3:22-23
“It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
This verse is born in the middle of one of the hardest books in the Bible — Lamentations — written facing the destruction of Jerusalem. And even there, in that context of loss, this certainty about God's faithfulness rises up.
Let's not overcomplicate this: if God's faithfulness held up in the middle of Jerusalem's ruins, it holds up in the middle of your hard day today too.
Am I measuring God's faithfulness by how yesterday went, or can I trust that today brings new mercies?
Tomorrow when you wake up, before checking your phone, give thanks out loud for that day's new mercy.
Lord, thank You that Your faithfulness doesn't depend on how good or bad my yesterday was. Today is new under Your mercy too.
