Mark 10:43-45
“But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”
Jesus flips the normal logic of greatness: instead of climbing up over others, He climbs by serving beneath everyone. It's a model of leadership that contradicts almost every success manual.
Let's not overcomplicate this: greatness, in Jesus's logic, isn't measured by how many serve you, but by how many you choose to serve.
Do I first look to be served in my relationships and my work, or do I actively look for ways to serve?
Do something today for someone who wouldn't normally notice the effort, without looking for recognition for it.
Lord, change in me the instinct to look to be served. Help me see service the way You lived it, not as weakness but as purpose.
