Galatians 6:4-5
“But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden.”
Paul isn't saying we should stop examining our lives; he's saying we should measure them against our own path, not someone else's. The burden each person carries is different, and weighing it against the one next to you is almost never fair.
Let's not overcomplicate this: your race has its own pace. Comparing it to someone else's doesn't bring you closer to the finish line, it just distracts you from it.
Who am I using today as the yardstick for my own life?
Next time you compare yourself to someone online or in person, stop and give thanks for something concrete about your own path.
Lord, free me from measuring my life against other people's lives. Help me run my own race, the one You gave to me.
