Proverbs 18:21
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
The proverb isn't exaggerating when it puts life and death in the same sentence as the tongue. We all have some word that marked us — for good or bad — for years, spoken in seconds.
Let's not overcomplicate this: you don't need to say much to cause harm or to heal. You need to be careful with the little you do say.
Reflection Question
Have my words this week built up or worn down the people around me?
Today's Action
Choose one person today and tell them something specific you value about them, instead of just thinking it.
Prayer
Lord, guard my mouth. Let my words today give life, and not leave wounds I can't undo later.
