Matthew 5:4
“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
This beatitude doesn't fit the idea that crying is a spiritual failure. Jesus names it a blessing — a place where God draws near, not one you need to rush out of.
Let's not overcomplicate this: God doesn't ask the one who mourns to hurry up and heal. He promises that comfort is coming. Grief isn't the opposite of faith; often it's the exact place where faith holds on to something bigger than itself.
Have I given my own pain permission to exist, or have I been trying to rush past it?
Set aside 10 minutes today just to remember, without distractions — a photo, a name, a place. Not to fix anything, just to feel it.
Lord, I'm not asking You to take the pain away yet. I'm asking You to sit with me in it, until the comfort You promised arrives.
